Wrapping up in Singapore

Tuesday morning and we are taking it easy after having walked all over Singapore for the past four days. Janice has been busy planning our next stages with the help of Paul and Shelley. We will go from here to Melaka, Malaysia.

I will be glad to get out of Singapore as I am tired of being the fattest man in the city. And the oldest. A slight exaggeration, perhaps, but the people here are young, slender, fashionable, good-looking, and prosperous. How they maintain their svelteness I don’t know as there are food shops everywhere selling delectables of every description. I do note that there seems to be a lot less sugar in the diet, though there are lots of starch, noodles and rice.

Janice’s note: Tom got called away to book tickets to Malacca.

  1. Not sure if Thailand is on the agenda, but I am reading in today’s WSJ about Islamist violence near the tourist beaches of Phuket and Krabi. I believe the Muslim-majority region is in the southern extreme of Thailand. Love, Jack
