Ushuaia, City at the End of the World

After a rainy day in BA, we got up at 2:30 a.m. and took an early flight to Ushuaia. What a difference. BA was hot and Ushuaia is cool and really cold when the wind blows. It is a very small city, reminiscent of those in Alaska that we saw from the ferry. The same mammoth cruise ships dot the harbor and the same well dressed tourists patrol the streets. The gift shops are the same, with a few nice Argentinian goods. The wind blown town on Beagle Bay, speckled with white caps, is backed by snow capped mountains that look deceptively close.
